NewsBin 4.0 is shipped with two utilities: SigGen4 and NBWinFix.
SigGen4 is a utility that allows you tell NewsBin about images you may already have on your hard drive or CD's that you do not want to download again from usenet. SigGen4 creates a 22 byte signature based on the first 24K of each file and adds it to its signature cache, just like NewsBin does when it downloads binaries from usenet. This is useful if you switch to NewsBin from another reader or if you obtain a collection of files that may exist on usenet from a different source. To run SigGen4, you must have first run NewsBin4 at least one time so that a signature.dat file has been created. When you run SigGen4, just follow the 3 step process listed in its toolbar.
NBWinFix is a utility that restores your NewsBin window configuration in case you get carried away dragging the dockable bars around and you lose track of one. To use it, close NewsBin then launch the file from your explorer window by double-clicking on it. The next time you start NewsBin, the dockable bars will be in their default location.

You can maneuver using the arrow keys in any of these tabs as long as the control that's on the tab (a list control) has the focus. You can also scroll up or down using the arrow keys, the mouse wheel or equivalent.
You can also mark posts for download using the enter key. For example you can mark one or multiple posts, hit enter and the posts will be copied to the download list for download. If something's in the download list that you really don't want to download, you can simply mark it and hit delete to remove it.
Holding a set combination of keys down on your keyboard will activate keyboard shortcuts in NewsBin. The table below is a quick reference guide to all the keyboard shortcuts used in NewsBin. Some shortcuts are specific to NewsBin while others are common in most window based programs. For example, the common shortcut for "copy" is "Ctrl+C" which mean that you hold the "Ctrl" key and the letter "C" key down at the same time to copy whatever you have selected. Detailed information for these shortcut features are explained elsewhere in this help document.
